David Alwyn has over 20 years’ experience in the insurance industry. Having qualified as a solicitor at Hill Dickinson and working as a Claims Executive for the Standard Club in London, he was posted to Singapore for 7 years as the General Manager/Underwriter and Principal Officer of Standard Asia. During this period of time he was responsible for the establishment of a non-marine mutual called Capricorn Mutual in Australia and New Zealand as well as the management of Unimutual – a mutual established to insure the universities in Australia. Following a period as Chief Operating Officer of Charles Taylor Asia Pacific in Australia, he returned to Europe and joined Wilson Europe in 2007. This career change from underwriter/mutual manager to broker enabled David to focus on the broking side of P&I insurance. He is in the unique position of not only placing shipowners P&I insurance but also placing the reinsurance of P&I Clubs. David is a qualified solicitor and has an LLB and LLM from University College London.
