Sami has extensive experience from both the broking and underwriting side of the marine insurance industry, and comes to Lockton from a position as Senior Underwriter of Baltic insurer Alandia. Previously he has held marine insurance positions as Marine Practise Leader Finland for AON, and as Marine Underwriter for Gard. All together he has 20 years experience from the marine industry.

He is currently carrying out a Master's Degree Programme in Security and Strategic Analysis, Intelligence Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. He holds an ACII from the Chartered Insurance Institute, a M. Sc (Econ) from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration International Business,  and  a Certificate in International Shipping and Commerce from the Centre for Maritime Studies at the University of Turku. He has a Licensed Insurance Broker's Qualification (non-life) with the Finnish Ministry of Social Affairs and Health.
